SunSDR2 PRO + E-Coder2 control panel
Kit with a SunSDR2 PRO transceiver and E-Coder2 control panel.
This kit includes a SunSDR2 PRO transceiver and an E-Coder2 control panel. The panel complements software control with a physical tuning dial, knobs and programmable buttons for quick frequency changes and access to frequently used functions. Headphones, a microphone, a CW paddle and a footswitch can be connected to the panel, bringing the controls and audio connections to the operator’s desk. This combination is convenient for both everyday operation and remote control of the transceiver.
SunSDR2 PRO - a compact HF/VHF transceiver with direct conversion on receive (DDC) and direct digital conversion on transmit (DUC). It weighs 1.5 kg and measures 185 × 165 × 50 mm; the heatsink is a single milled part. Output power is 20W on HF, 15W on 6M and up to 8W on 2M.
Contesting and SO2R
Two independent software receivers, each with a SubRX, let you work on two HF bands at once (in this case the wide filter is used) and use split operation for DX. SO2R with ExtCtrl turns the compact unit into a full contest position.
Home shack and field work
The compact enclosure fits beside a monitor or travels with you. A 130 dB dynamic range on HF, 114 dB on VHF, 0.2 µV sensitivity and the +10 dB preamp help provide confident reception in a busy band.
Field power
Power from 10...16V on receive and 12...16V on transmit allows the transceiver to run from a power supply or a battery. The antenna switch provides two HF antenna connections and one VHF connection; the external 10 MHz reference input accepts an external reference source.
2M VHF and external devices
The built-in VHF LNA provides +22 dB of gain. ADC IN and RX OUT allow external filters to be inserted into the RF path, while DAC OUT provides a signal-generator output. The transceiver also supports VHF transverters.
Software and integration
Free ExpertSDR3 for the whole product line, always the current version on the website, updates are free. The open web-socket TCI 2.1 protocol lets loggers, skimmers and digital-mode software connect to ExpertSDR3 without virtual COM ports or audio cables. See the catalog of compatible software; programs without TCI can use the RadioSync bridge (CAT, OmniRig).
Remote operation
Remote operation (ERS)
Expert Remote System (ERS) access is included: the transceiver stays in place, while control is available from a browser or from ExpertSDR3. Connect directly or through the ExpertCloud cloud; the E-Coder2 panel at the remote end accepts a footswitch, key and headset.
Hardware headroom
ALC*: input for external power amplifiers, controlled via ExtCtrl
Full Duplex*: full-duplex operation
* Hardware support is built in; software implementation is planned in future ExpertSDR3 updates.
With an external automatic power amplifier, the SunSDR2 PRO becomes the heart of a complete setup: the transceiver controls the amplifier via ExtCtrl, while the whole bundle stays light enough for field work.
If you need a 100W transceiver in one enclosure, see the SunSDR2 DX.
